(Bill Landis) Bill put on a great presentation about the Sobering Center (a.k.a. Detox Center) We decided that we would vote to incorporate the Sobering Center as an SOS Committee at next week’s meeting
Bill invited anyone interested to come and tour Medford’s Sobering Center, the Moore Center, on Thursday, February 28, 2013 @ 8 AM, located at 348 Front Street, Medford, Oregon

DETERMINE WHEN THE VARIOUS DEPARTMENT LEADERS, IE. SHERIFF, DISTRICT ATTORNEY, ETC., WERE GOING TO MEET AND WHAT THE REVENUE GENERATED BY THE LEVY ALONE WILL PROVIDE AS A SERVICE TO JOSEPHINE COUNTY RESIDENTS—JOSEPHINE COUNTY COMMISSIONER KEITH HECK SHALL PROVIDE THAT INFORMATION IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE
COMMISSIONER HECK REPORTED THAT ALL 3 COMMISSIONERS ARE ONE VOICE ON THE LEVY-BRIDGE AND ARE OUT IN FRONT OF THE LEVY CAMPAIGN!
OPIOID COMMITTEE UPDATE
(Toni Webb) Toni reported on how the final draft of the clinic proposal was up in Salem being reviewed
Toni spoke about the Josephine County Commissioners on KAJO this morning speaking about the clinic and the positive message they sent!
Toni will be going on KAJO on March 19, 2013 to promote the clinic with a couple of doctors who are yet to be confirmed.
Toni is going to coordinate this committee’s next meeting
Toni is also soliciting a name for the clinic, WHAT SAY YOU???
LOTTERY COMMITTEE UPDATE
(Cliff Thomason) Cliff gave us an up to the hour update, to include his recent conversation with Kevin Mannix who reported speaking with Wally Hicks about possibly submitting the Lottery Proposal as a piece of legislature
Cliff emphasized that our focus should be on an initiative where each County can exercise control over a certain amount of Lottery proceeds
Cliff also emphasized that there are many groups vying for a piece of the Lottery pie
We all agreed that the Lottery Solution is one of several prongs for the Criminal Justice System funding solution
Cliff is also going to write up some of the confusing elements of his committee’s task and ask for your input
WE ALL AGREED THAT WE NEED A STRONG PERSON TO STEP UP AND HEAD THE TWO-TIER TAX DISTRICT COMMITTEE—WHO SHALL IT BE?
JEFF WOLF AND DAVE DANIEL HAVE VOLUNTEERED TO BE A PART OF THAT COMMITTEE, HOWEVER CANNOT COMMIT TO BE THE CAPTAIN.
WHO SAY YOU?
THE BALL FUNDRAISER IN MARCH
Here is your Ball Committee:
The purpose of which shall be to raise money and community awareness for SOS and our Mission: “A Citizen-Voiced Plan to provide for a secure, stable and sustainable Josephine County.”
There was talk to possibly pushing the Ball back to April?
The Committee will have a venue and date by next meeting!
Site update (Frank Morin/Jay Meredith) were not present
BY NEXT WEEK-Site will show: 1) Sponsor Page; 2) Mini-One Question Survey Proposal: “Assuming the current proposed levy by the Josephine County Board of Commissioners is successful in May, do you think the Board of County Commissioners should refund money to its’ citizens in the form of levy-tax relief, should the Federal Government provide any O+C Funds?” 3) Victim Site 4) ASK SOS FAQ BOX 5) SOS Meeting Recordings/SOS RADIO
(Bill West) We agreed that SOS will continue to BLITZ and do presentations!
Bill and his Fireteam have 4 presentations scheduled
Jennifer Essick has agreed to coordinate with GPDPS Officer Leslie Donaghy to contact Neighborhood Watch groups in Grants Pass as well as coordinate with the Josephine County Neighborhood Watch groups to give SOS presentations
As stated earlier, the Josephine County Commissioners have advised that they are committed to lead and remain out in front of the levy effort. As such, they would appreciate at our SOS presentations to have a presentation sign-up sheet, where groups can request the Commissioners to educate them on the levy/bridge campaign
Bill will be having a Fireteam Meeting in the next few days—Standby Fireteam Captains!
WE DISCUSSED HOW A VOTE FOR THE LEVY WAS IN ACTUALITY A VOTE FOR FAITH IN OUR CURRENT COUNTY GOVERNMENT LEADERSHIP! WE ALSO DISCUSSED HOW THE LEVY WAS A TEMPORARY TOOL AND NOTHING MORE. ADDITIONALLY, WE SPOKE ABOUT HOW IMPORTANT IT WAS TO RESTORE PUBLIC FAITH IN OUR GOVERNMENT. IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PUBLICLY ANNOUNCE THAT IF FEDERAL O+C MONIES DO COME IN, THAT THE MONEY IS REFUNDED TO THOSE PARTICIPATING IN THE LEVY.
(Liz Hirni) Liz was not able to make tonight’s meeting, however, she will inform us about some grant opportunities she has been researching in the near future
WHAT SAY YOU?
“Ask not what your County can do for you. Ask what you can do for your county!”
MISSION STATEMENT: “A citizen-voiced plan to provide for a secure, stable and sustainable Josephine County.”
