The Need for Speed

marioWhen the justice levy failed a couple years back and most of the county sheriff’s office shut down, I remember thinking, “At least no one will be around to give me speeding tickets.”

Apparently a lot of people agreed.

Maybe we should have thought that one through a little more.

It turns out drivers in Josephine County aren’t as great on real roads as we are in Mario Kart, and unfortunately in real cars we don’t re-spawn when we crash.  The result is that our roads are twice as dangerous as those in other parts of Oregon.  The following graph shows how poorly we stack up with motor vehicle fatalities in Josephine County compared to the Oregon state average and even the broader US average.*

Notes From SOS Public Meeting – March 11, 2014

How many Warriors have registered so far? 

We ended up with 310 total runners and walkers in the 5k/10k and an additional estimated 50-60 kids for the Kids Dash!!!

  • PACKET / TIMING CHIP PICK-UP: was RACE morning, Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Club Northwest from 0700-0815 AM
  •  The Kid’s Dash started at 8:30 AMand it was completed before the other races which began at 8:40 AM!

The Kid’s Dash” will start at 8:30 AMand it will be completed before the other races which begin at 8:40 AM, so that if parents want to run, Kidzone will be letting member’s kids in free during the 10K/5K on race day and will only charge $3.50 for non-member kids!

Packet Pick-Up is on Friday, March 14, 2104 from between 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Club Northwest!

Club Northwest will be putting on a promotional event called “14 Days to your first 5K!”  This will begin March 1 and go until March 14th.  They will teach you how to get prepared for your first 5K in 2 weeks.  Please sign up for that at Club Northwest if you are a member and are interested!
