Notes From SOS Public Meeting – January 14, 2014

We had another great meeting this week!

Our next meeting is Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at the Wild River Brew Pub in Grants Pass located at 533 NE F Street from 5:15 PM-6:15 PM.

NOTES:

  1. Website Web Master Stipend—the Group agreed on a stipend for our current Webmaster, Gordon EdstromJay Meredith announced that the SOS Board had agreed on a monthly amount of $200 for the next 6 months; the Group voted to approve and it was made so.

  2. Intro Paragraph by David Smith has been completed; Please go to our website www.securingoursafety.org and let us know what you think about the paragraph and the site! This is OUR website and your input matters!

III. New Signs—The group approved the creation of two more signs, to be used at events and basically give a snapshot about what SOS is! Erin Mateja edited and they have been approved; everyone’s comments were addressed; Cliff Thomason will now get them created.

IV. Heroin, the growing crisis sweeping our county This article is now on our website and is the first weekly statistically based article by local Josephine County Journalist Frank Morin; there is an article tonight in the Daily Courier commenting on the heroin problem in Vermont;  again, Frank shall be writing weekly articles documenting Josephine County’s struggles with a depleted Criminal Justice System with FACTS and STATISTICS from credible SOURCES while keeping things in context. Our next meeting is today, January 14, 2014, at the Newman United Methodist Church in Grants Pass located at 132 NE “B” Street from 5:15 PM-6:15 PM.

AGENDA:

  1. Website Web Master Stipend—YOU agreed on a stipend; our current Webmaster donates a lot of time to our website and has indicated that a minimum of 10 hours monthly would be appropriate for the minimum monthly stipend – Jay Meredith/SOS BOARD

Notes from SOS Public Meeting – January 7, 2014

We had another great meeting Tuesday!

Our next meeting will be January 14, 2014, at the Newman United Methodist Church in Grants Pass located at 132 NE “B” Street from 5:15 PM-6:15 PM.

AGENDA:

  1. Website Intro Paragraph—We now have a website Intro paragraph. It gives a glimpse to newcomers to the website, what SOS is—Thank you David Smith! Please go to our website www.securingoursafety.org and let us know what you think about the paragraph and the site! For example: Gordon, I think we should have the font color different for said paragraph? (I really do!) WHAT SAY YOU?

  • The group approved the creation of two more signs, which will be used at events and basically give a snapshot about what SOS is! Thank you Erin Mateja for taking on that task! And as always, thank you Cliff Thomason for getting the signs made for us!
  • Committee Website Webpages need to be current! We have several Webpage updates that are worth reviewing. Don’t forget, this is OUR website. Please feel free to comment on what we can do better!
  • The group unanimously agreed to a paid Stipend for our Website Master,Gordon Edstrom. Gordon donates many hours weekly, as do many of our members, however, his duties are intense and require his regular participation. Our website is a critical component to our Mission: “A citizen-voiced plan to provide for a secure, stable and sustainable Josephine County.”; Gordon reported he averages 10 hours per month on our website; a request to the BOARD has been made to provide the hourly stipend
  • Webpage Poll—There is a Poll on our website, which asks what YOU believe the single most important issue in Josephine County is at the current time; please take a moment and VOTE!
  • We shall be featuring a Weekly Statistic Article by Frank Morin on our website; the group agreed that FACTS from credible SOURCES are important to be publicized and that these statistics are not to be inflated or used (abused) out of context

Josephine County Board of Commissioners—“Building Trust” Keith Heck gave a well articulated and sincere talk about leadership and how we should not trust somebody simply because of their position.
